Goodreads Reading Challenge 2017

Hey Bookworms!!

Hows your reading going so far?

Are you close to your reading goal yet? Or did you flake out? All is good. Don’t worry, there’s no Judging.

As for me, well I entered this game pretty late. I only started the Goodreads challenge around July. I’m pretty bummed at myself for being sooo damn behind. However, I am determined to accomplish this as my new years resolution for this year. If you’ve been following my blog, then you would’ve known that I had a >TWO Year Reading Slump < that I only managed to shake off very recently, so doing this is really important me.

Since I started mid-July, I decided to set a small goal for this year. Where hopefully, I will gradually increase it with time. My current goal is set to 20 books this year.

However, I DO have high hopes that I’ll be adding at least 40 more books to this pile. Especially after I set out to read all the books in my >TBR PILE< I mean seriously, am I the only one who feels like a fake bookworm when I have unread books in my shelf?

Update – 3 Oct: I accomplished my 20/20 Goal, so now I’m moving on to 30! 😀

Any who, another reason that I think this is cool is because you get to compete with your friends and fellow goodreads community members.OR if you are not one for competing then you share and do this challenge along with your friends. Read the same books and discuss it together.

Another important reason is obviously, Bragging Rights. There’s a summary made by goodreads at the end of the challenge where it displays your shortest and longest book, the total number of books and pages you read, the average book length, most popular and least popular book, highest rated book, a compiled list of every book you read that year, and the percentage of your reading challenge that you completed.  Which, finger crossed, will be 100%!

SO….tell me. Have I inspired you enough to start this challenge or to keep pushing on if you did? There’s no reason to worry about it, you can always start small like me! Here’s a cute puppy and kitty for reading this post. You’ve earned it!

Final Rating:

“Better late than never”

  1. I love the data goodreads gives on the yearly challenge! I love seeing it all in one place like that. Right now, I am still 1 book short of my goal, but that won’t be an issue.
A 2 year reading slump?!?! Oh thats awful!! I hope 2018 is the year its over!
