This is a forest story and a wonderful read at nap time, bedtime or anytime for small children. The story captures a child’s imagination and teaches about imagination and play. It uplifts and molds children to be brave, overcome challenges, look out for each other, help each other, appreciate all the good things in our lives, taking care of their environment, and making the world a better place to live.
I always admire people who write children’s books. It takes a certain level of creativity and experience to pull it off. Now having said that, when I do admire Orla for her hard work and effort, I’m afraid this did not work for me at all.
I was bored. Like really bored. I’m aware that I’m not the target audience, however I feel the need to point out that I’ve read and enjoyed countless books for children and have fallen in love with plenty of them. This simply did not cut it.
The Owly Trilogy was just loong and too wordy at times. This needed images to support the story and kind of break through all the long paragraphs. The dialogue was sparse. We were told what was happening instead of being left to explore, feel and experience. It was too direct and straight forward to the point that it felt like a lecture and not a story.
Unfortunately, this will not be recommended by me.
