Four shipwrecked divers, one mermaid princess who longs for the freedom to choose… or not.
Destined to marry the gorgeous, high-ranking Kai and inherit the throne from her grandfather, Princess Coral is the envy of every mermaid in the shoal. But all she really wants is the freedom to decide her own fate.
When Coral runs away from her own wedding and escapes to the land, she knows the clock is ticking. She has five days before her human body will succumb to the curse that binds all mermaids to the sea. Overwhelmed by the harshness of a deserted island, Coral is ready to accept her fate and return to the shoal, but with the arrival of four shipwrecked divers, Coral starts to understand why her mother was lured away by the human world.
When Coral is given the choice she always wanted, will she make peace with her destiny, or risk everything to forge her own path in a whole new world?
I’m sure that this is going to pop up in a lot of reviews, but I have to say it anyway. This is a reverse harem y’all. A reverse harem. Meaning, you get one girl and several very eligible bachelors to pick from. The difference between the usual love triangle trope is that she doesn’t have to pick one and stick with him. The girl’s free to pick whoever she wants whenever she wants! No drama.
This is kind of like manga or anime. Which you know I review regularly in this >blog.< The Mermaid’s escape simply bridged the gap between my love for them and novels. Making it the perfect read for anyone. Starting today, this book will be one I recommend for anyone willing to make the jump between the two worlds.
Now let’s review the book.
Honestly, this didn’t turn out the way I was expecting. It was better. I swear this isn’t good for my current mermaid/siren craze. I’ve been trying my best to control this obsession but this book just broke it.
Now I know what you’re thinking. If this is a reverse harem, then isn’t it just rolling around in the sack (my apologies for the faint hearted :p) and no action. Nope! That’s not it. Everything kind of grows organically between Coral, the female protagonist, and the boys. Nothing is forced on us.
There’s also the fact that they are all stranded in an island with no hope of escape. So everyday is a new adventure waiting to be explored.
So, do I recommend this read?
YES! I really enjoyed this world that Kellie created. Everything felt so well balanced and intriguing. Let’s also not forget that stunning cover as well! I’m looking forward to see how this plot grows.
Also, naughty boys.
Ok, I’m done now.
Until Next time,
