Long before she was the terror of Wonderland, she was just a girl who wanted to fall in love. Catherine may be one of the most desired girls in Wonderland, and a favorite of the unmarried King of Hearts, but her interests lie elsewhere. A talented baker, all she wants is to open a shop with her best friend. But according to her mother, such a goal is unthinkable for the young woman who could be the next queen.
Then Cath meets Jest, the handsome and mysterious court joker. For the first time, she feels the pull of true attraction. At the risk of offending the king and infuriating her parents, she and Jest enter into an intense, secret courtship. Cath is determined to define her own destiny and fall in love on her terms. But in a land thriving with magic, madness, and monsters, fate has other plans.

Spoiler Free Review:
You know what I love about this book. The fact that I knew nothing before I started reading this book.
Honestly, I think this is how I’ll live my life as a bookworm from now on. I’ll buy books that people have rated highly, without research at all, then read it. Because so far, the results have been spectacular!
Superb, Fantastic, Quirky, Overflowing with Whimsy and Icing Sugar…. that’s how I rate this book. I’m simply a sucker for a Villains backstory. Especially one where you had no idea it was about the villain. So I honestly believed that we would be getting a happy ending. I mean obviously the signs were there, I’m not stupid. However, I did hope that they were all untrue. Oh how weak the heart is..
Speaking of hearts…this book does a fantastic job at bringing out Catherine’s innocence and life before her ‘Off with your head!” faze. She was just a normal girl , living a normal life with hobbies, friends and family. Then one day she fell in love..
“A heart, once stolen, can never be taken back.”
Which is what started her doom. I’m not going to dwindle more on that subject. As I feel that you must read the book yourself! Not have someone summarize it for you. In any case, this is an interesting take to the magnificent world of Lewis Carol. And I whole heartedly recommend you to read. After all, how else would you explain Catherine’s transformation from the young and passionate girl – pictured way above – to the terrifying Queen of Hearts – Pictured Below –
My favorite characters include Jest..because duh! As well as the hatter, the caterpillar and of course my all time favorite, Cheshire.
Until Next Time!
