My Amazing Review Is Not On Fire:
I read this book twice. Unintentionally…. but I’m still counting it!
The Amazing Book is Not on Fire was a book I was dying to enjoy for a while. After much thought and deliberation, I decided an audiobook was the best way to experience it. Since I’m a huge fan of both Youtubers and a large part of their charm lies in their accent and banter. I realized it would’ve been a total waste of my time if I didn’t take the chance to listen to them! Audiobook it was!
You can imagine my disappointment at how slightly boring this turned out to be. I’m going to go on record and say that I might’ve had too much high expectations for this. I honestly don’t know what I was expecting but it wasn’t this while also being exactly this?
Let me explain: Everything in the book was very Dan and Phil. It was so on brand that it was too on brand. I loved the quirkiness and the light heartedness of the whole book but I think it was just a tad too much that it wasn’t cute anymore..just repetitive.. And it kills me to admit this! Like why do I feel like this?? I love them soo much…am I too old for them now? ….please..no…
Now why did I read this twice then…? Simple, the audiobook wasn’t enough. Look, this book has a lot of images in it, so whenever the boys encountered one, they would describe it. Unfortunately, that clearly wasn’t enough. It felt like I was missing something. So I stopped the audiobook and borrowed my friends copy so I can see what I was missing out on. This turned out to be a wonderful decision since now I can finally see and experience this book properly.
Reading the book twice made me realize that:
- Reading the printed copy alone lacks the charm that comes with their voice and banter.
- Listening to the audiobook alone lacks the visualization and artistic element the creators planned for the book.
- Reading both at the same time is the best and only way to go.
In conclusion, this was charming and very creative. I can tell that a lot of work and thought was put into this. They made their book very interactive, random and fun. Perfect for teens everywhere in the Danverse :p But if you need more than one medium to enjoy this book, then maybe something is not fully right… In all honesty, this book would be rated a 3/5 but I kind of got scared from all the crazy fans so I upped it to 4 on goodreads….yea…. I want to live, okay!?
Until Next Time,
