Review:

Image result for Shadow and Bone ALINA"

*deep breath… Well…. hmmmm… I am very sorry to say that this book was a disappointment. So disappointing in fact that I contemplated not bothering with a review for the entirety of the series. There’s literally nothing worth writing about or even mentioning in my post.

And before you think that the hype over this series is what ruined it. As is the case, with many other novels out there… (I’m looking at you Lady Midnight.. and your sequels…) With Shadow and Bone, that is simply not the case. People seem to genuinely love this trilogy and have hounded me for years to read it with promises of joy and excitement. And I, a well established bookworm, have not let those false promises influence me.

The sad truth of the matter is, the writing sucked. Like it was bad. The first chapter instantly put me to sleep. Along with the bad writing, the plot was predictable and the characters were so incredibly annoying that I ended up skipping half the book. And trust me, I really tried hard not to skip.

The only person worth mentioning is the Darkling. If you miss Rhysand from the ACOTAR universe, he is the closest version out there to him that you can get. And I would say the percentage of closeness is around 45% to 50%. So don’t get too excited.  Baghra is another interesting character. She is feisty, strong and probably stood out from the rest for being one of the few characters who has anything interesting to say.

Final Thoughts: Run my children… run. Don’t start this journey. Don’t make my mistake. Spare your eyes!

Until Next Time,

Bookbye!
